ICCA has unveiled a new initiative, ICCA Advantage, designed to equip organisations with the skills necessary to attract and host international association meetings.
This personalised training programme, operating under the ICCA Learn umbrella, aims to provide a competitive edge in the rapidly changing business events industry. Emphasising proactive learning, it will help teams address specific challenges and foster growth.

A recent example of ICCA Advantage in action was the BidSmart programme, a two-day seminar hosted by the Berlin Convention Office. This session focused on convention bidding, providing destination management professionals with practical skills and knowledge.
Instructors led participants through sessions covering crucial topics such as bidding document feedback, lead identification, and strategic bidding improvements. The interactive format included hands-on exercises, discussions, and real-life case study reviews.
“ICCA’s commitment to remaining a leader in the education space on the global stage is strong, exemplified by the debut of ICCA Advantage,” stated Senthil Gopinath, CEO of ICCA. “This programme seeks to enrich and upskill participants with personalised instruction based on real-world issues that face business events organisations today…”
Marco Oelschlegel, director of conventions at the Berlin Convention Office, highlighted the programme’s value.
He stated: “Continuous training of the team is so important – a seminar that is tailored to your own needs and also takes place in-house is a perfect solution for this! We are therefore delighted that ICCA introduced its seminar, ICCA Advantage BidSmart, especially adapted to the needs of team members who are new to the topic of bidding. Together with the international experience of the ICCA team, it provided valuable impetus for future bidding processes.”
