The International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) has announced a new two-year Destination Partnership with Meeting Destination Vienna, represented by the Vienna Convention Bureau, commencing January 1, 2026.

The partnership aims to bridge the gap between senior destination decision-makers and IAPCO’s accredited PCOs, who collectively manage over 21,000 events annually. In 2024 alone, these events generated an estimated €17.9 billion (US$21 billion) in economic impact.

“Our Destination Partners ensure PCOs have direct access to senior leadership within leading cities,” said Sissi Lignou, president of IAPCO. “We know that when a convention bureau includes an IAPCO-accredited PCO at the early bidding stages, the chance of winning that bid increases.”

As a Destination Partner, Vienna will play an active role in the association’s global initiatives, including joining the judging panel for the IAPCO Partner’s Emerging Leader Award, and hosting an upcoming IAPCO Advisory Board Meeting.

Anita Paic, director of the Vienna Convention Bureau, noted that the partnership reinforces the city’s status as a top-tier meeting hub.

“Working with IAPCO underlines Vienna’s standing as a high-quality destination. We are excited to use this platform to highlight our unique capabilities, culture, and ambitions, creating tangible value for organisers and their clients alike.”
