The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has achieved EarthCheck Master Certification, securing the international programme’s highest sustainability tier after 15 consecutive years of independently audited environmental and social performance.
Managed by Legends Global, the venue underwent rigorous third-party evaluation covering operational efficiency, resource management, waste reduction, cultural inclusion, and employee training. The audit specifically highlighted four core areas of excellence across the venue: its circular economy culture, continuous operational improvement, cultural inclusion, and comprehensive staff awareness programmes.
“Achieving EarthCheck Master Certification represents 15 years of leadership, discipline, and continuous improvement,” said Stewart Moore, CEO and founder of EarthCheck. “BCEC has demonstrated that sustainability is embedded into how the organisation operates.”
BCEC’s general manager Kym Guesdon noted that the milestone strengthens the centre’s value proposition for event planners. “Environmental and social outcomes are increasingly important considerations for organisers and this recognition reinforces our ability to support clients in delivering events that meet both business and sustainability goals.”
The accreditation places BCEC among an elite group of global convention facilities as Brisbane prepares to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
