PCAAE transforms association leadership with new credential, sustainability alliance

The Philippine Council of Associations and Association Executives (PCAAE) has partnered with UK-based Elevated and US-based Brewer Pratt Solutions in offering a new credentialing programme called Certificate in Association Governance (CAG).

Registration is now open to members and non-members both in the Philippines and overseas for the 3.5-month-long programme set to begin in September.

PCAAE’s membership has trended younger, mirroring the millennial-dominated demographic of SPH

PCAAE already has on stream its Certified Professional Association Executive Program, now with 74 graduates, which covers the first part of its purpose to advance the association management profession.

Its second purpose, to make associations well-governed and sustainable, will be covered by the CAG credentialing for association leaders (board members, CEO and professional staff), PCAAE founder and CEO Octavio Peralta said.

Apart from Peralta, the delivery team will include Andrew Chamberlain of Elevated – co-host of the Association Transformation Podcast which focuses on the evolving landscape of association management and leadership – and Elisa Pratt, CEO and chief strategist of Brewer Pratt Solutions.

Through a combination of live Zoom sessions, face-to-face meetings and podcasts, CAG’s curriculum includes four modules on understanding good governance; legal duties and non-statutory obligations; maintaining the board as a high-performing team; and the characteristics of governance as leadership.

PCAAE has also welcomed its newest member, Sustainable PH (SustainablePH), a non-profit community of sustainability practitioners in the Philippines. Both organisations will be holding a joint PCAAE’s 12th Summit and Sustainable PH Summit 2024 on November 27, 2024, which will focus on collectively driving sustainable impact.

Peralta told TTGassociations that with SPH’s entry, the demographics of PCAAE’s association profile have changed to include more boards, senior association executives and staff who are in the sustainability field. This also brings the association’s membership age lower, mirroring the millennial-dominated demographic of SPH.
