Over 500 international business executives, government leaders, and trade experts from 53 countries convened in Philadelphia for the 56th Annual World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) Global Business Forum (GBF).
Hosted by World Trade Center Greater Philadelphia under the theme “Historic Foundations, Future Collaborations: Cultivating New Business Frontiers”, the four-day event focused heavily on navigating global economic fragmentation, supply chain realignments, and geopolitical uncertainty through regional partnerships.
Delegates examined South-east Asia’s emergence as a crucial growth corridor, paying special attention to how connector economies like Malaysia are establishing trusted trade bridges between north-east Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Irmohizam Ibrahim, group managing director of World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, emphasised: “As the global trading landscape continues to evolve, businesses are increasingly seeking partners and locations that offer stability, connectivity and long-term confidence.
“Through the WTCA network, we are committed to strengthening international partnerships that facilitate trade and create long-term opportunities for businesses on a global scale.”
To help multinational enterprises evaluate market stability and geopolitical risks when restructuring supply chains, the forum showcased new analytical tools, including the Geopolitical Annual Trade Risk Index developed in partnership with the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies.
The gathering also marked the launch of the UNIDO-WTCA Blue Economy Global Call 2026, an initiative aimed at sourcing cross-border innovations in sustainable maritime transport, marine technology, and blue energy.
The WTCA also announced that its 57th Annual Global Business Forum will take place from April 4 to 7, 2027, hosted by World Trade Center Binh Duong New City in Vietnam. The gathering will showcase Vietnam’s expanding role as an industrial, innovation, and trade connectivity hub within the South-east Asian region.
