Yokohama seals win for 12th APGGC conference

Yokohama wins bid for a 2022 event

The city of Yokohama in Japan has won its bid to host the 12th Asia Pacific General Galvanising Conference (APGGC) in 2022.

The APGGC will be held in Yokohama May 29 to June 2, 2022, and is expected to attract 350 participants from around the world. Organisers estimate that 250 of the 350 anticipated delegates will come from outside Japan, representing a total of 25 countries and regions.

The conference will be held under the concept of For a Sustainable Future: Think Zinc! and the event will feature presentations about world-class technology and products. Delegates will include corrosion specialists, steel producers and fabricators.

The successful bid was led Japan Galvanisers Association, which highlighted the traditions and high standards, the association’s passion and vision, and the convenient access by public transport of the host city, Yokohama. Assistance from the Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the recently-opened Pacific Convention Plaza Yokohama (PACIFICO Yokohama) will also rendered.

It will be the second time for Japan to host the conference, the last time being in 1994.
